At Altitude Games, we recognize the immense value of education and the importance of giving back to the community. By sharing our expertise in the gaming industry, we aim to foster the next generation of talent and ignite innovation through fresh perspectives.
This December, we launched an exciting initiative to establish partnerships with pilot schools, offering students real-world experience through internships, engaging seminars, and curriculum enhancements aligned with industry standards. On December 5, our team – Ericka Merano (HR Associate), Monique Reyes (HR Manager), Tim Mironenko (Engineering Manager), Luna Javier (Design Director), and Keith Morales (Operations Director), embarked on a meaningful journey to visit three institutions: De La Salle University (DLSU) Taft, the College of St. Benilde (CSB), and CIIT College of Arts and Technology.
A Day of Connection and Collaboration
Morning at De La Salle University
Our day began at DLSU Taft, where we were warmly welcomed by Mr. Jordan, head of the OJT program. Joining the discussion were esteemed faculty members, including Mr. Rafael Cabredo, Program Director and Associate Professor of Software Technology; Ms. Shirley Chu, Assistant Dean for External Affairs; Mr. Neil Patrick Del Gallego, Assistant Professor of Software Technology; and Ms. Ethel Ong, Dean of the College of Computer Studies.
The team shared insights into DLSU’s history with game development, the structure of their program, and the faculty’s strong emphasis on research. Their dedication to nurturing both academic and industry-ready skills was inspiring and aligned with our goals for the partnership.
A Showcase at the College of St. Benilde
Just across the street, we arrived at CSB, where we were greeted by Mr. Lamberto Ongkingco Jr., MIB Chairperson and Faculty, and Ms. Beatrice Margarita V. Lapa, PhD, OJT Coordinator and Academic Adviser. Coincidentally, their event INCENDIUM was taking place—a term-based showcase of student game projects, including capstone and class assignments.
We were fortunate to witness these innovative creations firsthand, providing a glimpse into the remarkable talent nurtured at CSB. The faculty also shared details about their programs, students, and internship opportunities, further deepening our understanding of how we could collaborate.
Afternoon at CIIT College of Arts and Technology
Our final stop took us to CIIT in Quezon City, where Ms. AJ Aguilar, Strategic Partnership Coordinator, along with Mr. Rizaldy Rapsing, Tech Program Head, and Professors AJ Siytangco and Maynard Aldwin Guerrero, warmly welcomed us.
The CIIT team hosted an impressive campus tour, showcasing state-of-the-art facilities equipped with high-end technology. Following the tour, we engaged in an in-depth discussion about their program structure, student profiles, and potential internship and industry partner collaborations.
The day was filled with important discussions as we shifted our focus to new priorities and set goals for the remaining months of the year. Each team presented their initial plans and ideas, contributing to a collaborative atmosphere.
Looking Ahead
As the day drew to a close, we departed feeling both productive and inspired. The warmth, dedication, and innovative spirit of the schools reaffirmed our commitment to fostering these partnerships.
We are thrilled to launch our pilot program and look forward to a fruitful collaboration with these institutions in the coming year. Together, we aim to bridge education and industry, empowering students to thrive in the exciting world of game development.
